OC Health Clubs' Pilates classes in Queenstown. Core stability that supports everything else you do, applying classical principles with a contemporary understanding of biomechanics.

WHAT IS PILATES?

The Foundation

of Core Strength

Many people think Pilates is simply an abs workout. In reality, it's a method of improving deep core strength, posture, balance, mobility, and body awareness. These foundations support everything else you do, from strength training and hiking to carrying groceries or spending long hours at a desk.

People often search for Pilates classes in Queenstown because they want to move better, reduce aches and pains, or build strength without high-impact exercise. OC Health Clubs' Pilates classes are built around those same goals, combining classical Pilates principles with modern movement science to help you move with greater confidence and control.

The result is a stronger core, better posture, improved movement quality, and a body that's prepared for both everyday life and the rest of your training.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

Quality Over Quantity. Always.

Precise Movements with Expert Coaching

Every session is coach-led, with continuous guidance on posture, breathing, alignment, and movement quality. Small adjustments create meaningful improvements over time.

Mix of Mat Work & Small Equipment

Sessions combine mat-based Pilates with resistance bands, rings, and other small equipment to improve core strength, stability, mobility, and control.

Movement Quality First

Pilates isn't about doing more repetitions. It's about moving with precision, control, and intention, helping you build strength safely while improving how your body moves.

Core Strength & Posture

Every exercise develops deep core stability and postural alignment. Over time, this supports better posture, reduces everyday aches and pains, and helps you move more efficiently.

Body Awareness

Pilates improves proprioception, your awareness of how your body moves and positions itself. Better body awareness translates into improved balance, coordination, and confidence in everyday movement.

Suitable For Every Level

Whether you're new to Pilates or have years of experience, every exercise can be progressed or regressed to suit your ability. Your coach meets you where you are and helps you progress with confidence.

HOW A SESSION WORKS

The Structure Behind Every Session

1. Breath & Core Activation

Every session begins by connecting breath with deep core activation. This creates the stability, control, and body awareness that form the foundation of every Pilates movement.

2. Mobility & Movement Preparation

Gentle mobility work prepares your spine and joints for controlled, precise movement while improving flexibility and range of motion.

3. Pilates Movement Sequence

Your coach guides you through a sequence of classical and contemporary Pilates exercises using mat work and small equipment. Every movement is coached to improve posture, core strength, balance, and movement quality.

4. Stretch & Recovery

Finish with a guided stretch and recovery sequence to release tension, improve flexibility, and help your body absorb the work you've completed. You'll leave feeling stronger, taller, and more mobile.

HOW A SESSION WORKS

The Structure Behind Every Session

1. Breath & Activation

Every session begins with breathing and deep core activation, establishing the connection between breath and movement that underpins everything in Pilates.

2. Mobility & Warm-Up

Controlled spinal mobility and joint preparation to get the body ready for precise, deliberate movement.

3. Main Pilates Sequence

A coached sequence of classical and contemporary Pilates exercises: mat work, small equipment, or a combination. Your coach cues every movement, ensuring quality throughout.

4. Strectch & Integration

A closing stretch and integration sequence to lengthen what's been worked and settle the nervous system. You'll leave feeling taller, lighter, and more aware of your body.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Pilates only for women?

Not at all. Pilates was originally developed by a man, Joseph Pilates, and was first used with male athletes and dancers. Core stability, postural control, and body awareness are relevant to everyone, and many of our strongest Pilates members are men who started sceptical.

Will Pilates help with my back pain?

Pilates is widely used for back pain management and rehabilitation. It develops the deep core stability and postural awareness that addresses many of the root causes of back pain. That said, please mention any existing conditions during your initial consultation so your coach can programme appropriately.

How does Pilates complement my other training?

Pilates develops the stability, body awareness, and movement quality that heavier training often bypasses. Members who add Pilates alongside HYPER or HYBRID typically notice improvements in their form, fewer niggles, and better recovery. It fills the gaps that strength and conditioning training leaves.

How do I get started at OC Health Clubs?

Getting started begins with a free consultation, a no-pressure conversation about your goals, your history, and what's worked or hasn't before. From there, we build your personalised plan across training, nutrition, and sleep, complete a baseline assessment, and get you into your first session. No guesswork, no figuring it out alone.

I haven't trained in years. Is OC Health Clubs right for me?

Yes, and you're exactly who OC was built for. Our coaches adapt every session to where you are right now, not where you think you should be. Whether you're returning after years away or starting from scratch, you'll receive the same personalised attention and coaching as every other member.

What makes OC Health Clubs different from a gym in Queenstown?

At a regular gym, you pay a fee to hire equipment, then you're on your own. At OC Health Clubs, every session is coach-led. Your trainer knows your goals, your injuries, and your history. Your programme is built around you, your progress is tracked every six weeks, and if you don't show up, we check in. That's why our attendance rate is 92%, compared to an industry average of around 30%.

Can I train at OC Health Clubs if I have existing injuries?

Absolutely. Tell us about your injuries during your initial consultation and we'll build your programme around them. Our coaches are experienced in working with members managing back issues, knee problems, shoulder injuries, and chronic pain. Adapting movements in real time so you can train safely and make progress without setbacks.

How much does a membership at OC Health Clubs cost?

OC offers two pathways: a Group Classes membership with unlimited coached sessions per week, and a Personal Training membership with up to three personalised sessions per week. Both begin with a 28-day programme designed to build your foundation. Pricing is discussed during your free consultation so we can recommend the right option for your goals and schedule.

What are the class and session times at OC Health Clubs Queenstown?

We run 60+ sessions every week at our Queenstown facility, from 5:45am through to 7:30pm. Early enough for before-work training, flexible enough to fit around most schedules. Most members train three times per week. Your coach will help you find a routine that works for your lifestyle.

Can I switch between personal training and group classes?

Yes. We'll assess where you're at and guide you toward whichever option suits your goals and schedule best, and that can change over time as your needs evolve.

Is OC Health Clubs suitable for complete beginners?

Yes. Many of our members had never set foot in a gym before joining OC Health Clubs in Queenstown. Our coaches meet you exactly where you are, no assumptions, no intimidation, and no generic programmes. Every session is adapted to your current level and progressed at a pace that's right for you.
