2. Movement Briefing

Before the workout begins, your coach explains the movements, intervals, transitions, and scaling options. You'll know exactly what to expect and how to approach the session with confidence.

3. Conditioning Blocks

The main workout is built around structured conditioning intervals using functional movements and a variety of equipment. Your coach guides pace, technique, and intensity throughout, helping you improve cardiovascular fitness while maintaining movement quality.

4. Cool-Down

Finish with a structured recovery phase to gradually lower your heart rate, support recovery, and prepare your body for your next training session.

Yes, intensity is always relative. Your coach will scale the load and pace to your current fitness level, so the session is challenging for you specifically, not just challenging in absolute terms. Many of our members started METCON with little to no conditioning background.

How does METCON differ from HIIT?

METCON (metabolic conditioning) is a broader category that focuses on improving your body's energy systems through varied, functional movements and equipment. HIIT typically refers to shorter, more repetitive cardio-based intervals. METCON sessions tend to include more movement variety and are programmed around energy system development specifically.

How often should I do METCON each week?

Two to three sessions per week works well for most members. Because of the intensity, recovery between sessions matters, your coach will help you build a schedule that balances METCON with your other training and allows proper recovery.

OC offers two pathways: a Group Classes membership with unlimited coached sessions per week, and a Personal Training membership with up to three personalised sessions per week. We run 60+ sessions every week at our Queenstown facility, from 5:45am through to 7:30pm. Early enough for before-work training, flexible enough to fit around most schedules. Most members train three times per week. Your coach will help you find a routine that works for your lifestyle.
