Exercise. The roof that protects everything underneath it.

Exercise is the most visible pillar of the Health House, but it only works when the others are in place too. Here's how movement fits into the bigger picture, and why consistency matters more than intensity.

Why your body stopped keeping up, and what actually reverses it

Muscle loss starts in your 30s, not your 60s. Here's what the research says about strength training in your 40s and 50s, and why waiting costs you more than you think.

The Roof, and How We Build It

Exercise protects everything underneath it. In the OC Health House, Sleep is the foundation and Nutrition is the walls, but without the roof, none of that structure is shielded from the day-to-day wear that pulls it apart. Movement is what holds the rest together.

We do not chase intensity for its own sake. One habit, built with consistency: showing up three times a week. It is the first focus every member builds in week one of the 28-Day Programme, and it stays running underneath every week that follows. Form over fatigue, every session.

Frequently asked questions

Exercise questions from our Queenstown personal training members

Why are sessions kept to small groups instead of an open gym floor?

Personal training sessions run with 2 to 5 members and one coach, so every workout is individualised and there is no waiting on equipment. Group classes stay capped at 30, coach-led throughout, so form is never left unsupervised.

What does form over fatigue actually mean in a session?

Quality movement patterns come first, always. Your coach would rather see a controlled, well executed set than a heavier one done badly. Sustainable progress beats a quick fix, and injury prevention is the priority, not an afterthought.

How many times a week should I be training?

Three sessions a week is the baseline habit every member builds from week one. Consistency beats intensity, you cannot improve what you do not do, so this is the one habit that keeps running underneath every other focus.

Why does OC follow up if I miss a session?

Most gyms want you to join and never come back. Ours is built the other way. Our attendance rate sits at 92 percent, against an industry average closer to 30 percent, because we follow up when someone does not show, not because we are chasing them, but because results depend on showing up.

Will my sessions be adjusted around an old injury or niggle?

Yes. Every session includes real-time form correction and progressions or regressions tailored to where you are at, so an old shoulder, knee, or back issue shapes the session rather than sitting outside it.

How long is a session, and why that length?

Sessions run 45 to 55 minutes. Long enough to train properly, short enough to fit around a full working day. 55 minutes of precision beats 2 hours of wandering.
